RTD-wire.
The RTD-wire (Resistance Temperature Device) is a temperature sensor especially designed for "cross-section" average temperature measurement. Accurate temperature measurement is essential in many types of industries. Single point measurement devices (PT-100) are widely accepted, however for obvious reasons this single point temperature measurement gives not an accurate overview of the real temperature. For this reason Burner Systems has developed a length-sensor. The RTD-wire is a patented spiral wire placed in a frame and can be delivered in various lengths from 2 up to 20 meters, depending on customers request. The resistance changes which occur in the spiral-wire are measured and transformed into a temperature value. This way an accurate temperature can be given over the total section. The sensor is suitable for temperature measurement up to 500°C.
